Abstract

The crime of motor vehicle theft is an act that violates the rules as well as against social norms and against the rights as contained in Article 362 of the Criminal Code. To discuss this problem, research is carried out with an analytical descriptive study approach which in principle conducts research with library research, namely by examining library materials or secondary data as the basic material for research. Furthermore, the data obtained through field research were analyzed qualitatively in order to obtain a clear picture of the subject matter. The results of the study explain that the optimization of law enforcement carried out by the Buah Batu Sector Police in dealing with criminal cases of motorcycle theft. There are several inhibiting factors for the Buah Batu Sector Police in uncovering cases of motorcycle theft. First, people are still reluctant to report 1X24 hours or do not report immediately to the police. local police, so that motorized vehicles are out of reach. Lack of witness evidence, people who don't care about helping the police, goods resulting from crimes or items resulting from theft are sometimes not sold in full but are sold in parts, it is difficult to find evidence, because in general the perpetrators sell evidence to remote areas. or far from the scene of the case, so that investigators need a long time to track them down, and a wide network of perpetrators of theft so that investigators in tackling the crime of motor vehicle theft experience obstacles or obstacles, because the extensive theft network makes it difficult for investigators to carry out investigations and investigations.
